How to choose:

G5 and G6 are most commonly used.

Players with larger hands may prefer G4.

It's safer to choose a thinner grip, as you can always build it up using overgrip tape. A grip that's too thick cannot be adjusted easily.

6. String Tension (Poundage)

String tension, measured in lbs (pounds), affects how the shuttle is hit and how much effort is required.

Player Level

Recommended Tension

Beginner

22–24 lbs

Intermediate

24–26 lbs

Advanced

26–28 lbs

Professional

28+ lbs

Low tension offers more bounce and easier clears, which is helpful for beginners.
High tension allows for better control and powerful smashes, but requires precise timing and wrist strength.

Tip: Beginners should avoid tensions above 25 lbs. Overly high tension can reduce performance and increase the risk of injury.

7. Balance Point

The balance point refers to the distribution of weight along the racket. It typically ranges between 280mm to 320mm from the bottom of the handle.

Head-Heavy (300mm+): More weight towards the head; provides power and is great for offensive players.

Head-Light (<285mm): Easier to maneuver and better for defense, but lacks power for clears and smashes.

Even-Balance (around 290–295mm): Offers a balance between control and power, making it ideal for beginners or all-round players.

Additional Tips & Insights

Racket Frame Types

Box Frame: Offers stability and minimizes distortion. Preferred by players focusing on powerful smashes. However, it generates more air resistance.

Aerodynamic Frame: Designed with streamlined edges to reduce air drag and increase swing speed. Favored by fast-paced, attacking doubles players.

Hybrid Frame: Combines both structures for balanced performance, but is harder to manufacture and control.
