Elastic Hand Wraps Boxing

Why is it essential to wear wrist wraps when boxing?

If boxing gloves are likened to shoes, then good wrist wraps are like comfortable socks. They minimize hand wear and tear caused by movement, allowing you to engage in combat more comfortably.

1. Protecting the wrist joints: The human hand contains numerous bones and ligaments. Failing to wear hand wraps while boxing may lead to ligament swelling, knuckle wear, or bone deformation.

2. Aiding punch power: Using hand wraps reduces the gap between the gloves and the hands, keeping the hands in a taut state when clenched, which facilitates better punch power.

Hand Wrap Selection

Length:

For adults, a 5-meter length is generally recommended. Women with smaller hands may opt for a 4-meter length, while children typically require a 3-meter length.

Elasticity:

Elastic hand wraps allow for greater wrist flexibility and are less likely to cause discomfort. Materials with proper tension often offer better breathability and greater comfort. Non-elastic hand wraps provide excellent protection and stability but may cause discomfort if too tight, potentially restricting blood flow. Currently, most training sessions can use elastic wraps.

How to Clean and Maintain

Wrist wraps should be washed promptly. Prolonged exposure to sweat can cause the fabric to age and stiffen, reducing its protective effectiveness.

After use, unroll the wrap and lay it flat to dry to prevent moisture buildup, keeping it dry and clean.

When washing, soak the bandage in fabric softener before cleaning. If machine washing, place it in a laundry bag to prevent it from being pulled by other clothes. Finally, hang the cleaned wristband in a well-ventilated area to dry.

If the bandage is worn or damaged, repair or replace it promptly. Additionally, personal bandages should not be shared with others to prevent the spread of bacteria.
