Taekwondo uniforms are generally divided into traditional taekwondo uniforms and poomsae uniforms.
Traditional Taekwondo Uniforms
Traditional taekwondo uniforms are the most common type of taekwondo attire. They typically consist of a white top, white pants, and a red-black or black 'V'-shaped collar. The chest features a 'WT' emblem.
Poomsae uniforms
Poomsae uniforms first appeared at the 'Taekwondo World Championships' and are the officially designated competition attire. They are available in men's and women's styles, as well as youth and adult sizes.
Men's youth uniforms consist of a white open-collared top paired with sky-blue trousers.
Men's adult uniforms consist of a white open-collared jacket and navy blue trousers.
Women's youth uniforms consist of a white open-collared jacket and red trousers.
Women's adult uniforms consist of a white open-collared jacket and dark blue trousers.
Proper uniform wearing
The most common misconceptions about wearing uniforms are:
- I should choose a larger size for more comfort during training.
- Children are still growing, so a larger size can be worn for two more years.
Firstly, Taekwondo uniforms are designed specifically for training scenarios, so the cuts are intentionally larger. The most important aspect of wearing the uniform is that it fits properly. Pursuing 'looseness' at all costs gives an untidy and unkempt appearance.
Secondly, overly large clothing can also affect training effectiveness. Limbs hidden within oversized clothing make it difficult for coaches to promptly identify issues with movements. Appropriate clothing can better highlight movements during training and showcase a stylish appearance.
Therefore, suitable clothing should allow the wrists and ankles to be visible during training.
