Stockings aren't just for looks-they also serve a protective purpose.

Don't underestimate the thin layer of stockings-they actually serve a practical purpose on the wrestling ring! While professional wrestling is a performance, the moves are no joke. Constantly grappling, sliding across the floor, and being lifted by opponents can easily lead to skin abrasions or bruises. The tight-fitting stockings worn by female wrestlers (especially those made of high-elasticity nylon) reduce direct skin exposure, lowering the risk of abrasions.

Additionally, stockings provide some muscle compression, similar to the principle of athletic compression tights, aiding blood circulation and reducing muscle fatigue. This is quite important for wrestlers, as a match can last over ten minutes with continuous high-intensity movements. Male wrestlers do not wear stockings, but they may wear compression pants or knee guards to achieve a similar effect. However, men's clothing designs tend to focus on shorts, with protective features concentrated on the knees and waist, so exposed leg skin is not a concern.

Another small detail: tights can make legs appear smoother, covering minor imperfections (such as fine hair or small scars), which is a plus for female wrestlers who need to appear on camera. For male wrestlers, however, thick leg hair is seen as a symbol of 'masculinity,' so they don't need this 'filter' at all.

The skin-coloured stockings worn by female wrestlers (especially those with a subtle shimmer effect) reflect a metallic sheen under the lights, making their leg lines more defined and their movements appear smoother. This effect is particularly noticeable in close-up shots, such as when the wrestlers enter the ring, where the shimmering legs instantly capture the audience's attention.
