Diving Fullface Mask

Factory Coating and Preparation

New diving masks often come with a protective film on the lens surface. This coating must be removed to prevent fogging. While commercial anti-fog sprays are available, experienced divers often recommend:

Carefully burning off the film (not recommended for beginners)

Cleaning with non-abrasive toothpaste

Final rinsing with mild soap or shower gel

Beginners should stick with commercial mask cleaners for safety and simplicity.

How to Select the Right Diving Mask

When selecting a mask, functionality and fit should guide your decision. Here are key steps to ensure you find a mask that suits your needs:

Step 1: Dry Fit Test

Without using the strap, place the mask on your face and inhale slightly through your nose. A good mask will stay in place with a light suction and should not leak air.

Step 2: Check Skirt Seal

Run your fingers around the edge of the skirt to confirm that it sits flush with your skin. Make sure there are no gaps, particularly near the temples or under the nose.

Step 3: Nose Pocket Check

Try pinching the nose through the nose pocket to ensure it's comfortable and effective for equalization. Some mask designs may not suit all nose shapes, so try several if needed.

Step 4: Comfort and Strap Fit

Adjust the strap and note how it feels. Ensure the buckle system is easy to use and doesn't dig into your scalp or interfere with your dive hood (if worn).

Step 5: Visibility Preference

Choose lens and skirt colors based on your diving needs. Black skirts reduce glare for photographers, while clear skirts or light-colored masks increase brightness for recreational divers. Bright mask colors (yellow, white, pink) also improve underwater visibility for your dive buddy.
