The movement trajectory is not vertical: dumbbells "go the wrong way"!
Wrong demonstration: When pushing up or putting down the dumbbells, the trajectory is not vertical up and down, but draws an arc forward (the body leans forward to gain leverage) or swings backward (excessive waist straightening, the trajectory deviates behind the head).
Why does the rotator cuff hurt?
Exceeding the safe range of motion: In particular, if the trajectory deviates too much backward (the so-called "behind the neck push"), the shoulder joint will be placed in an extremely unstable and non-physiological abduction + external rotation angle.
The rotator cuff tendons are very likely to be overstretched or compressed in this extreme position (especially the supraspinatus and infraspinatus).
Too much weight/showing off, deformed movements: In order to lift too much weight, stability and movement standards must be sacrificed.
Why does the rotator cuff hurt?
Excessive compensatory force: When the strength is insufficient, the body will instinctively shrug the shoulders, bend the waist, and swing the body to gain leverage.
The instantaneous explosive force will cause the shoulder joint, which should be under control, to bear a huge impact and unstable torque, and the fragile rotator cuff will bear the brunt of the impact.
