Run-Up Jump

Jumping can be divided into two categories: standard jumps and supported jumps. Standard jumps, including jumping up, down, and over obstacles, are the foundation of supported jumps. Supported jumps consist of seven technical steps: the run-up, boarding, stepping, first jump, pushing, second jump, and landing.

1. Technique: Start with a run-up. Look at the equipment, lean your upper body slightly forward, touch the ground with the ball of your foot, fully extend your back leg, and run forward with your hips. Keep your movements coordinated, with a clear rhythm, even arm swing, and accurate stepping.

For the last few steps before boarding, naturally lift your upper body, reach your arms back, and swing your swinging leg forward quickly. Actively push off the ground with your pushing leg, keeping it aligned with your swinging leg. Step onto the board with your forefoot parallel and downward.

Actively cushion your legs, keeping your head held high, your chest tucked in, and your waist tight. Lean your upper body slightly forward while swinging your arms rapidly from the back and forward, braking. Combine this with a quick push-off of your legs to generate maximum takeoff power.

2. Teaching Tips

① Run-up arm swing and back kick drills require coordinated arm swings and powerful back kicks.

② Three-step "single jump, double drop" drills require maintaining a straight back and chest, swinging both arms forward until they are at shoulder level before braking.

③ Fast run-up and pedal drills require coherent and coordinated movements between the run-up and jump, with fast arm swings and powerful braking.

④ Appropriately increase the initial run-up speed and pedal force to achieve greater support and reaction force.

3. Guarding and Assisting: The guard or assisting person stands on the springboard to the side of the athlete's landing point, one hand in front and the other at the waist.
