Women's Lacrosse
Women's lacrosse originated in 1890 at St. Leonard's School in Scotland. It differs significantly from the men's game:
Team Size: 12 players per team
No offsides, no out-of-bounds rules
Physical contact is not allowed, and stick contact is strictly limited
Protective Equipment (Women):
All players must wear:
Mouthguards
Eye protection
Gloves
Soft headgear
Goalies are required to wear:
Helmet with face mask
Chest protector
Neck guard
Leg and thigh pads
Special goalie gloves
Abdominal protection (strongly recommended)
Protective equipment should be lightweight, close-fitting, and non-restrictive.
