I. Choosing "Beginner Roller Skates"
For children just starting out in roller skating, while professional speed skating gear isn't necessary, the choice of equipment directly impacts their "first experience with the sport," safety, and the development of proper technique.
1️⃣ We do not recommend toy skates, soft-shell skates, or low-quality hard-shell skates. These types of skates offer poor support, limit power generation, and provide a poor skating experience. They can easily lead to the development of incorrect movement habits, severely impacting progress and future learning, and can be very discouraging to a child's self-confidence.
Some skates, while not necessarily defective, are unsuitable for instructional use but may be acceptable for casual play.
These are among the types of skates that coaches at training centers fear the most: while the quality is fine, progress is extremely slow. If skaters try to go faster, the skates become too flexible, making it impossible to learn any advanced moves beyond basic gliding and braking.
2️⃣ Poor-quality toy roller skates: The category with the most severe instability. Children are still growing, and their bones are fragile, making them prone to sprains and even severe fractures.
3️⃣ "Wheels too small": They can't glide properly. Even when children are trying their best, they skate much slower than others and struggle immensely. A hard shell that separates from the liner and doesn't hug the foot can also cause the foot to wobble or the skates to feel unstable.
