Athletic Muscle Tape

Similar results have been observed in studies involving participants with sports injuries. Niknam's research found that providing sensory input to the knee joint through kinesiology tape application has a positive effect on reducing joint repeatability absolute error in patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. Chang's research found that applying kinesiology tape to the medial aspect of the forearm can enhance the discrimination ability of grip strength control (absolute force perception) in patients with medial epicondylitis of the elbow.

Eun's research showed that kinesiology tape application can improve sensory discrimination ability in patients with localized muscle tone disorders, and a positive correlation was found between improvements in patients' subjective pain perception and temporary somatosensory discrimination thresholds. Huang's research demonstrated that lower limb kinesiology tape application can enhance proprioception at 45° and 60° knee angles in upper-grade elementary school students. Additionally, studies have found that kinesiology tape application can effectively improve the reduced proprioceptive function in the coronal plane of the ankle joint caused by functional ankle instability.

The effect of kinesiology tape on exercise-induced fatigue Exercise-induced fatigue refers to a physiological phenomenon characterized by a decrease in physical function and exercise capacity induced by exercise. Its underlying mechanisms are not yet fully understood and are highly complex, potentially influenced by various factors. In exploring the effects of kinesiology tape on exercise-induced fatigue, Yamaji et al. found that applying kinesiology tape to the lower limbs can enhance the explosive power of flexor muscle movements after intense exercise and prolong muscle strength before and after intense exercise.

Subsequent studies have shown that kinesiology tape can reduce blood lactate concentration during exercise, increase absolute peak power, absolute average power, relative peak power, and relative average power during anaerobic exercise, and significantly improve the Rating of Perceived Exertion (RPE), suggesting that taping the quadriceps can improve lower limb anaerobic work capacity.
