Volleyball is one of the ball sports. It originated in the United States in the late 19th century and was introduced to China in the early 20th century. Since the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, volleyball has become a competition event in the Summer Olympics.
The game is played on a field 18 meters long and 9 meters wide, separated by a net in the middle (the men's net is 2.43 meters high and the women's net is 2.24 meters high). The two sides of the game each occupy one side of the court, hit the ball over the net with their hands, and use serving, padding, passing, spiking, blocking and other techniques to win the game across the net. The official game adopts a five-game three-win system. During the game, each side has six players on the court, and the game is not limited by time. In the game, if a team wins 1 ball, it will get 1 point (score per ball system). If the receiving team wins 1 ball, it will get 1 point and get the right to serve. The players rotate one position in a clockwise direction. In each game (except the fifth game of the decisive game), the team that scores 25 points first and leads the opponent by 2 points wins the game.
The highest level organization of volleyball is the International Volleyball Federation. The Chinese Volleyball Association is a group member of the All-China Sports Federation and a national special sports association recognized by the Chinese Olympic Committee.
In the game, each team can request up to 2 timeouts and 6 substitutions. The timeout time limit is 30 seconds. In the 1st to 4th innings, there are 2 technical timeouts of 60 seconds each, which are automatically executed when the leading team reaches 8 points and 16 points. In the deciding inning (5th inning), there is no technical timeout, and each team can request 2 ordinary timeouts of 30 seconds in this inning.
