Game Kickoff

The game starts with a kickoff. The kicker of the defensive team puts the ball on the tee on the team's 30-yard line and kicks the ball to the offensive team. After the offensive returner catches the ball, he will try to move forward until he is intercepted by the defensive team. The offensive team then starts a round of offense from where the ball was intercepted.

If the returner catches the opponent's kickoff in his own end zone, he has two options: either run out of the end zone with the ball and run to the opponent's field until he is intercepted; or touch the ground with his knees after holding the ball to indicate a touchback, which is also a stop signal. Then the ball will be placed at the 20-yard line of the offensive team and the offensive team will start the first round of offense.

Offensive Method

American football adopts a round-type competition method, and its offensive method is similar to six-man football and league football. The offensive team has four opportunities to advance 10 yards forward (the end zone of the defensive team), and each opportunity is called a "down" offense (down, that is, the opportunity to be intercepted and knocked down by the opponent once). When the offensive team successfully advances more than 10 yards in the fourth down offense, it can get a new fourth down offense opportunity - called a new "first down" (1st down, also known as the first attack). By continuously obtaining new first attacks, the offensive team can carry out a series of continuous attacks and continue to advance forward until scoring. The goal of the defense is also very simple - to prevent the opponent from advancing enough distance in the fourth-down offense as much as possible and force them to exchange possession of the ball.

If the offense cannot achieve the tactical goal of advancing 10 yards in total in the four-down offense, the possession of the ball will be handed over to the opponent at the end of the fourth offense. Generally speaking, if the offense is still not sure of advancing enough distance when the fourth offense is launched, most of them will use punt to transfer the ball to the opponent.
