Many people may wonder why it is necessary to wrap bandages around the hands before putting on gloves. When first learning boxing, punches may be powerful but also prone to injury, as the hands have not yet been trained to withstand strong impacts. Hand injuries can take a long time to heal, so bandages are always wrapped around the hands during training for protection.
If the bandages are wrapped properly, it can significantly improve the quality of your training, greatly reduce the risk of hand injuries, and provide additional support to the fists. The bandages should allow the fists to grip tightly without obstructing blood circulation. Therefore, it is essential to wrap the bandages carefully and thoroughly before training.
Are many of you feeling overwhelmed by bandages? With such a long bandage, wrapping it around from the back of the hand to the finger creases and back to the hand-how should I wrap it?
Don't worry! Here's a simple six-step bandage wrapping tutorial!
Step 1:
Bandages have a front and back side. The side with the label is the back (bottom side). First, thread your thumb through the loop and place the back (bottom side) underneath. Wrap it around the wrist three to four times, then wrap it around the thumb joint once along the palm.
Step 2:
Apply it to the back of the hand, wrap it around the wrist from the thumb side to between the ring finger and little finger, return to the back of the hand, and wrap it around the wrist once to secure it. Then wrap it around the middle finger from between the index finger and middle finger to between the middle finger and ring finger, covering the middle finger, and return to the back of the hand to wrap it around the wrist once to secure it.
