Folding the Karate Gi
Neatly folding the karate gi is also part of karate practice. There are many ways to fold the gi, but here we introduce the most representative method. It is important to note that the gi must be folded before it can be placed in a bag and carried away. This must be done with care to avoid exposing or showing off the uniform.
Step one: Lay the belt, jacket, and pants flat and neatly. Step two: Spread out the sleeves of the jacket and place the pants in the center of the jacket. Step three: Fold the right side of the jacket over the pants, fold the sleeves back, and fold the left side of the jacket in the same manner. Step four: fold both ends of the uniform inward and place the belt in the middle. Finally, fold again using the belt as the fold line.
Cleaning and Maintenance of the Uniform
When wearing the uniform for the first time, it is best to rinse it briefly with clean water and a small amount of laundry detergent. This will make the uniform softer and more comfortable while ensuring cleanliness.
After use, the uniform should be laid flat, folded in half, and neatly folded before being carried. It should not be carelessly crumpled and stuffed into a bag, as this may cause wrinkles.
Whether hand-washing or machine-washing, the uniform should not be washed with dark-colored clothing or the belt. It should only be washed with white clothing. High-quality uniforms should be washed separately.
During hot weather or intense physical activity, the uniform will become saturated with sweat after each training session, necessitating immediate washing. Use clean water with a small amount of laundry detergent.
