In colder weather or with minimal sweating, the uniform may be washed every other time or simply rinsed with clean water. When washing, turn the uniform inside out to ensure thorough cleaning of areas directly in contact with the body.
If the gi shows signs of yellowing, a small amount of fabric bleach can be added during washing (but never use corrosive bleach), and it should be turned inside out for washing. Note that excessive use of bleach can damage the gi, so it should be used sparingly.
When washing, avoid using water hotter than 30°C, as the fabric may deform when exposed to heat. Washing with hot water not only fails to clean the uniform but may cause it to wrinkle or lose its shape. Even if the uniform is heavily soiled and requires warm water, the temperature should be kept below 20°C-just warm enough to feel slightly warm when your hand is submerged.
After washing and drying the uniform, it should not be exposed to direct sunlight, as this will cause the originally white uniform to yellow quickly. The correct drying method is to place it in a shaded area to air dry.
For bloodstains that have not dried on the clothing, hot water should not be used to remove them, as this will cause the bloodstains to solidify more firmly and become harder to remove. Use cold water and soap-based detergents (enzyme-containing laundry detergent is highly effective for removing bloodstains) to quickly remove the stains. For old bloodstains, apply the juice of a carrot or white radish to the stained area, gently rub it in, then rinse with clean water to remove the stain completely.
