Skateboarding and Longboarding

Deck Design

Skateboard: The deck is shorter, usually with a double-kick design (both ends are curved upwards). The deck is light, thin, and flexible, with a deeper concave shape for better control during flip tricks and other technical maneuvers.

Surfskate: The deck is slightly longer and flatter. Some surfskate boards have a single-kick or no-kick design. The nose and tail are clearly differentiated, and some board shapes mimic the curves of a surfboard, such as fishtail and swallowtail designs.

Truck Structure

Skateboard: Front and rear trucks are the same, mostly made of PU, with a relatively simple structure and lower turning flexibility.

Surfskate: Distinguishes between front and rear trucks; the front truck is usually a spring-loaded truck or a specially designed PU truck, offering greater flexibility and allowing for larger turning angles, simulating the curved gliding motion of surfing.

Wheel Characteristics

Skateboard: Wheels are smaller and harder, suitable for quick turns and performing tricks, requiring a relatively smooth surface.

Surfskate: Wheels are larger and softer, providing stronger grip and better elasticity, allowing for more stable gliding on flat or uneven surfaces and reducing bumps.

Riding Style

Skateboarding: Primarily relies on pushing off the ground with the feet for propulsion, requiring frequent pushing to maintain speed. The riding trajectory is mainly straight lines or small-angle turns.

Surfskating: Generates propulsion through body twisting and weight shifting, utilizing the special angle changes between the board and the trucks. Continuous gliding is possible without pushing off the ground. The riding trajectory is S-shaped or curved.

Gameplay and Difficulty

Skateboarding: Emphasizes skill and competitiveness, allowing for advanced maneuvers such as ollies, kickflips, and bowl riding. It requires high levels of balance, strength, and coordination, making it more difficult to learn.
Surfskating: Focuses on flat ground riding and simulating the surfing experience, emphasizing body coordination and rhythm. It has a lower entry barrier and is suitable for beginners and casual riders.
