Competitive American Football

• Game Objective: Advancing the football into the opponent's end zone is called a touchdown. The team with the higher score at the end of the game wins.

• Field and Players: The field is 120 yards long (approximately 110 meters) and 53.33 yards wide (approximately 49 meters). Yard lines are drawn every 5 yards, and every 10 yards is numbered. Each team has 53 players, divided into offensive, defensive, and special teams. Up to 11 players can be on the field at a time, and players can rotate freely between downs.

• Game Duration: The game is divided into two halves, totaling four quarters, each lasting 15 minutes. If the score is tied after four quarters, a 15-minute overtime period is played in the playoffs (10 minutes in regular season). In the NFL regular season, a tie in overtime results in a tie, while in the playoffs, a winner must be decided.

• Offensive Method: The offense has four opportunities to advance the football 10 yards into the defense's end zone; each opportunity is called a down. If an offensive team accumulates 10 or more yards within four downs, they are awarded four more offensive possessions; otherwise, possession returns to the opposing team.

• Scoring Methods: A touchdown scores 6 points; a shot that clears the crossbar and between the goalposts scores 3 points; a safety scores 2 points when the offensive team is forced back into their end zone and is tackled or fumbled.

• Key Player Positions: Offenses include quarterbacks, offensive linesmen, running backs, wide receivers, and tight ends; defenses include defensive linesmen, linebackers, and defensive backs; special teams include kickers, punters, and long hitters.
