Field Hockey Practice Balls

Field hockey is a fast-paced, competitive team sport played on a rectangular grass or artificial turf field. Players use a curved stick, known as a hockey stick, to maneuver a hard ball with the aim of scoring goals by striking it into the opposing team's net. Because it is traditionally played on grass, the sport is also referred to as "grass hockey" in some regions.

The goalkeeper shall wear a top of a different colour than that of his team and the opposing team members over his protective gear. Except when taking a penalty kick (not defending a penalty kick), he must wear a protective helmet. Protective helmet: The Rules Committee strongly recommends that goalkeepers wear a helmet that provides fixed protection for the entire face and covers the entire head.

The following protective gear is only permitted for goalkeepers: body guards, shin guards, foot guards, hand guards, and equipment to protect the thigh, upper arm and elbow.

(1) Shin guards, foot guards and hand guards: must not have hard edges or protrusions.

(2) Shin guards: when worn on the goalkeeper's leg, the maximum width is 300 mm.

(3) Hand guards: when lying flat with the front facing up, the maximum width is 228 mm and the maximum length from base to tip is 355 mm. There must be no attachments that allow the stick to be attached to the hand guards when the goalkeeper is not holding the stick.

(4) No additional clothing or equipment may be worn in addition to the permitted equipment, or clothing or equipment that artificially enlarges the body or protected area.

Teams

The game is played between two teams, with no more than 11 players on the field at the same time. There is no limit on the number of substitutions that can be made by each team during the game. The game is divided into four quarters, each lasting 15 minutes, with a 2-minute break between the first and second quarters and between the third and fourth quarters, and a 5-minute break between the second and third quarters. The kick-off is exchanged before the start of the third quarter.
