Technical Rules

Technical action requirements

① Serving: The side that gets the right to serve must rotate first, and the No. 1 player must hit the ball within 8 seconds after the referee blows the whistle. After the serve leaves the hand, if the ball touches the players on the court of the serving team, the marker pole, or other obstacles in the middle, the serve does not pass the net or the ball falls outside the opponent's boundary, it is a serving error and the right to serve is lost. Before the team makes a mistake, the serving player serves continuously.

② Touching the ball:

Players can touch the ball with any part of their body, but they are not allowed to stop. If they scoop, hold, push or throw the ball, they will be judged as holding the ball. Each team can touch the ball up to 3 times (excluding blocking). If a player touches the ball more than 1 time in a row (excluding blocking), it will be judged as continuous hitting. Two players from the same team touching the ball at the same time is considered as 2 touches. However, after players from both sides touch the ball at the same time on the net, they can hit the ball 3 more times.

③ Offensive hitting: Hitting the ball directly to the opponent's court is an offensive hitting. Front row players can make offensive hitting at any height in their own court. Back row players can only make offensive hitting with the entire ball not higher than the top of the net in the front court before the offensive line, but they can hit the ball at any height after jumping behind the offensive line.

④ Over the net: Players are not allowed to hit the ball over the net, but the hitting point is in the own court. After the ball leaves the hand, the hand will follow the ball over the net without being judged as over the net foul. Before the opponent hits the ball, if the blocking player touches the ball above the opponent's court, the blocking player is judged to have crossed the net. After the opponent hits the ball, it is allowed to block in the opponent's court.

⑤ Crossing the center line: Any part of the player's body crosses the center line and touches the ground of the opponent's court, which is a foul. However, if one foot or part of both feet steps over the center line, and the other part steps on the center line or above the center line, it will not be a foul. Players can reach out and hit the ball under the net, but they must not hinder the opponent's players.

⑥ Blocking: Only the front row players are allowed to perform single or collective blocking. In one block, the ball can continuously touch the hands, heads or any parts of the body above the waist of one or more blocking players, which is counted as one block. After blocking, the team can hit the ball three more times. After the blocking hand touches the ball, if the ball falls out of bounds, it is called a touch-out-of-bounds, and a mistake is judged.
