Basic volleyball techniques include: ready stance and movement, passing, setting, serving, spiking, blocking, and net play.
For beginners, the first step is to learn the ready stance and movement, and to master various movement techniques.
Then, they should learn passing and setting techniques, followed by serving techniques.
After mastering passing, setting, and serving, they can participate in simple games.
Building upon this foundation, they can then learn spiking and blocking techniques, allowing them to organize simple offensive and defensive tactics.
Learning volleyball techniques can be done in the following steps:
Preparation stance → Movement techniques → Practice methods for mastering the preparation stance and movement techniques → Important considerations for the preparation stance and movement techniques → Application of receiving techniques
The Role of Ready Stance and Movement Techniques
The ready stance and movement are fundamental techniques in volleyball, serving as prerequisites and foundations for performing various hitting techniques such as serving, passing, spiking, and blocking.
The purpose of the ready stance is to prepare for timely movement and the execution of hitting actions.
The purpose of movement is to approach the ball promptly, adjust the relative position between the player and the ball, and facilitate the execution of hitting actions.
Preparation Stance
(1) Semi-squat preparation stance: The feet are spread slightly wider than shoulder-width apart, with one foot slightly in front of the other, toes slightly turned inward, and knees bent into a semi-squat. The heels are slightly raised, the body's center of gravity is slightly forward, the arms are relaxed and naturally bent, and the hands are placed in front of the abdomen. The body should be appropriately relaxed, the eyes focused on the incoming ball, and the feet should remain slightly moving at all times.
(2) Slight squat preparation stance: In the slight squat preparation stance, the body's center of gravity is slightly further forward than in the semi-squat preparation stance, and the degree of knee bending is less than in the semi-squat preparation stance. The movement method is basically the same as the semi-squat preparation stance.
(3) Low squat preparation stance: The distance between the feet, both laterally and longitudinally, is wider than in the semi-squat preparation stance, the degree of knee bending is greater, the body's center of gravity is lower and further forward, the vertical line from the knees extends beyond the toes, and the arms are placed between the chest and abdomen.
