Practising Taekwondo in winter can exercise cardiovascular function and improve overall physical fitness. Additionally, Taekwondo promotes metabolism, generating more body heat, enhancing cortical excitability, and enabling the body's temperature regulation centre to adjust temperature sensitively and accurately, adapting to cold environments and improving cold resistance.

 

03 Promoting Bone Development

According to surveys, individuals who regularly practice Taekwondo are 4–8 centimetres taller than those who do not. This is because practising Taekwondo in winter promotes the body's absorption of calcium and phosphorus, which aids bone growth and development, particularly important for children still in their growth phase.

As the weather grows increasingly cold, children frequently catch colds. Many parents worry that their children might get cold or catch a cold during Taekwondo training, so they layer thick thermal underwear or woolen sweaters under their Taekwondo uniforms. How should children dress for training?

 

Prepare outerwear in advance

Children have a high metabolism, are more sensitive to heat than cold, and are often in a state of constant movement. Therefore, clothing choices during exercise must be carefully considered. During exercise, the body sweats profusely. If sweat is not promptly dried or changed, it can cause a damp, chilly feeling, making it easier to catch a cold. Therefore, it is recommended that children choose inner layers with strong absorbency and quick-drying properties; outer layers should have windproof performance and good breathability, and be ready to be worn promptly when going out.
